Walking Shropshire - The Ludlow Food Festival

The Ludlow food festival has a short yet rich history, and remains a yearly treasure to its many visitors. The festival has a host of events, which bring in the masses, and which constantly help to increase its number of visitors.
In the year 1995, Ludlow, in want of something to help promote its own food products, decided to hold a food-festival. This was just to test the market, but to its amazement the festival started very well, and has proven more successful with each event Ludlow has put on.
The food-festival is held yearly in the castle square of Ludlow. It brings in large numbers of volunteers including the town's major producers and suppliers. Thanks to the festival's success, it has acquired some fantastic chefs from around the area.
The festival promises to give its customers the same, great events each year; the sausage trail; the Pork Pie of the Marches; the Cake Trail; and the Ludlow Sandwich event.
The event has seen progressively increasing numbers of people arriving at its doors each year. The numbers, which were already well into the thousands, finally made the milestone of 20,000 in 2007; this large number continues to increase.
For anyone interested in traditional foods, Ludlow food-festival has both the history and the taste he or she needs. It has proved to be the perfect day out thanks to its fantastic events and this is evident in its constant increase of visitors.

The dates of the food festival vary slightly each year. Despite this, they usually take place in May and September. Exact dates and ticket prices can be found on the Ludlow food festival’s official site Ludlow food festival.
